“Nah,” Mikey says. “I'd rather it just be me and you.”

Gerard smiles at him, warm and familiar, and says, “Sure, okay.”

They put in a movie and sit close together on the couch, Gerard with his head on Mikey's shoulder.

It's The Shining, which always freaks Mikey out, but Gerard seems to realize that and holds his hand during the really weird parts. It shouldn't be that scary, Mikey's seen it before and doesn't usually freak out during movies, but something about it makes him squirm in his seat.

After the movie, Mikey makes his way upstairs and lies down on his bed. He's almost instantly asleep.
